On 18 December 2021, Bolder Ventures was hit by a catastrophic flood that saw the gym suffer major losses to its infrastructure. During its reconstruction on 7 March 2022, it was hit but yet another flood that hampered rebuilding.

 

After 6 months of clean-ups and constructions, BV 2.0 finally reopened its doors on 13 May 2022.

 

The new gym is furnished with dark, wooden panels and simple angles to represent a boat that's riding a wave. The design and its grading system pays homage to Japanese climbing gyms, which Safwan spent time in as a guest routesetter in 2019. During his stint there, he enjoyed the nuanced puzzle-like complexitiy of their boulder problems, and used it as inspiration for BV 2.0's routes that climbers can enjoy.
